Overview
Every sign is split into star segments called nakshatras, and each nakshatra has a fixed planetary lord. Where a planet sits by star — its 'star-lord' — often decides how it delivers results, more finely than the sign alone. Meet the 27 nakshatras
Before you can spot a star exchange you have to know the stars. The same zodiac you already read as 12 signs is also cut into 27 nakshatras of 13°20′ each, and each nakshatra into 4 padas — 108 in all. Because a pada is exactly 3°20′, every sign holds exactly 9 of them, which is why the whole system drops so neatly onto the South-Indian chart below.
