Overview
Mars (Kuja, Mangal or Angaraka) is the fiery, action-driven planet of Vedic astrology — the Senapati, commander-in-chief of the planetary cabinet. If the Sun sets the goal and the Moon gives it a shape, Mars is the action hero who marches to the field and gets it done. As a karaka it is the natural significator of brothers and siblings and of land and property. Classed a natural malefic, that label simply means Mars carries raw energy, courage, drive and a fighting spirit — the willpower (sankalpa bala) to begin a task and stay in the fight until it is finished.
