Overview

Jupiter (Guru or Brihaspati) is the teacher of the gods (Deva Guru) and the great benefic of the zodiac — the Jeeva Karaka, the significator of the living soul itself. Picture a great kingdom: the King (Sun) and the commander (Mars) hold immense power, but it is the royal advisor — the Rajaguru — who shows them how to use that power righteously, for the good of the people. That advisor is Jupiter. Where Mercury hands you raw information, Jupiter is the lighthouse that turns it into wisdom and realisation, so you take the right decision even in the dark. This is why he is called the Pranaraksaka, the protector who dissolves hundreds of faults in a chart.
