Muhurat Calculator/02 — Tarabalam

02 — Tarabalam

"Tarabalam" = star strength. It measures how the running nakshatra of the day relates to the native's birth nakshatra in a 9-step cycle. Count the 27 nakshatras from the birth star and group them into 3 rounds of 9: each round produces the same nine taras in order.

The nine taras

  1. Janma Tara (1, 10, 19) — birth star. Mixed; avoid sensitive starts.
  2. Sampat Tara (2, 11, 20) — wealth. Highly auspicious.
  3. Vipat Tara (3, 12, 21) — danger. Avoid.
  4. Kshema Tara (4, 13, 22) — well-being. Auspicious.
  5. Pratyak Tara (5, 14, 23) — obstacles. Avoid.
  6. Sadhaka Tara (6, 15, 24) — accomplishment. Highly auspicious.
  7. Vadha Tara (7, 16, 25) — harm. Avoid.
  8. Mitra Tara (8, 17, 26) — friend. Auspicious.
  9. Parama Mitra Tara (9, 18, 27) — great friend. Most auspicious.

How to use

Enter the native's birth date / time / place. The calculator computes the birth nakshatra and labels every slot's day-nakshatra with the corresponding tara. By default Sampat, Kshema, Sadhaka, Mitra and Parama Mitra are kept; Janma is borderline; Vipat, Pratyak and Vadha are always to be unchecked for new beginnings.

For two-person events (marriage, partnership), the calculator computes tarabalam for both natives and shows slots where both taras are acceptable.

When to relax

For continuation of an existing activity (rituals already in progress, follow-up appointments), Janma tara is acceptable. For high-stakes one-time starts, demand at least Sampat / Sadhaka / Parama Mitra.
