The Powerful Planet column in Planet Capacity evaluates the strongest planet in the signwhere the effective star lord is posited. This uses the same rule system as the/strongest-planet/ page — the Nakshatra Dig Balamsystem by N.V. Raghavachari.

Overview
In the three-column Performance structure, the Powerful Planet column carries 30% weight(18 marks out of 60). It also contributes 15% weight (6 marks out of 40) to the Resource score. The powerful planet is determined by applying a strict priority-based rule system to all planets occupying the sign of the effective star lord.
Powerful Planet = Strongest planet in the sign where the effective star lord is posited
Rules are applied in priority order — the first rule that yields a result selects the planet.
Contribution: Performance = 30% = 18 marks max (Position: 10.8 marks, Lordship: 7.2 marks). Resource = 15% = 6 marks max. Combined, the Powerful Planet column influences up to 24 marks of the total Planet Capacity score.

Why Powerful Planet Matters
In KP Stellar Astrology, the star lord governs the results a planet delivers. But the powerful planet in the star lord's sign influences HOW those results manifest. A strong powerful planet amplifies the star lord's significations, while a weak one dilutes them.

Selection Rules (Priority Order)
The system applies these rules in strict priority order. The first rule that selects a planet wins. If a rule does not apply, the system moves to the next rule.

Rule 1: Own Sign (Sign Lord Present)
If the lord of the sign is present among the planets in that sign, it is automatically the strongest. The sign lord has inherent dominion over its own territory and is always the most powerful when present.
Example: Jupiter in Sagittarius — Jupiter is the lord of Sagittarius. Since the sign lord is present in its own sign, Jupiter is immediately selected as the powerful planet. No further rules are checked.

Rule 2: Exalted Planet
If no sign lord is present, check if any planet is exalted in that sign. Exalted planets have maximum natural strength and take priority over other conditions.

Rule 3: Own Star (Nakshatra)
A planet posited in its own nakshatra gains considerable strength. If no sign lord or exalted planet is found, the planet sitting in its own star is selected.

Examples: Saturn in Anuradha (Saturn's star), Moon in Rohini (Moon's star). These planets gain strength from being in their own nakshatra domain.

Rule 4: Dig Bala (Only If Exactly 1 Planet Has It)
If exactly one planet among those in the sign has Dig Bala (directional strength via the 8-rule system), it is selected. If multiple planets have Dig Bala, this rule is skipped entirely to avoid ambiguity — the system proceeds to Rule 5.
Key condition: This rule only applies when exactly one planet qualifies. The 8-rule Dig Bala system is the same one used on the/strongest-planet/ page (Nakshatra Dig Balam by N.V. Raghavachari).

Rule 5: Sequence Order (Default Fallback)
When no other rule applies (no sign lord present, no exalted planet, no own-star planet, and Dig Bala is either absent or ambiguous), the system uses this fixed sequence order. The first planet in the sequence that is present in the sign is selected.

Note: Rahu and Ketu have the highest natural priority in the sequence. This reflects their powerful shadowy influence — when no other distinguishing factor exists, the nodes take precedence. Mercury has the lowest priority in the fallback sequence.

Special Rules
Two special rules modify the standard priority system. These are applied as overrides or filters to ensure accurate selection.

Scorpio Exception: Saturn in Anuradha
If the sign is Scorpio and Saturn is in Anuradha nakshatra(Saturn's own star in Scorpio), Saturn overrides all other rules and becomes the powerful planet. This is a hard override that takes precedence before the normal rule chain.

Saturn in its own star (Anuradha) within Scorpio gains extraordinary strength that overrides even the sign lord (Mars) or any exalted planet in the sign.

Debilitation Skip
If the planet selected by any rule is debilitated in that sign, it isskipped. The next non-debilitated planet is chosen instead. A debilitated planetcannot be the most powerful planet in a sign.

Important: The debilitation skip is a filter applied after any rule selects a planet. Even if a planet qualifies by Rule 1 (own sign), if it is debilitated, it is skipped. However, in practice, a sign lord in its own sign cannot be debilitated — debilitation only occurs in a specific different sign.

Effective Star Lord (RC Rule 5)
Before determining the powerful planet, the system first identifies the effective star lord— which is not always the natural nakshatra lord. The effective star lord determines which signto evaluate for the powerful planet. This is the same Rule 5 from the RC (Retro Chart) system used in/dasha-analysis-calculator/.

The effective star lord determines the sign where we look for the powerful planet. Changing the effective star lord changes the entire sign being evaluated, which can completely change which planet is selected as the powerful planet.
