Vimshottari Dasha All Levels Calculator

The Vimshottari Dasha All Levels Calculator generates the full cascade of planetary periods used in Vedic astrology timing — Mahadasha, Antardasha, Pratyantar Dasha and Sookshma Dasha — from your date, time and place of birth. The 120-year Vimshottari cycle is the most widely used dasha system in Parashari Jyotisha because every birth begins inside a Nakshatra ruled by a planet, and that planet seeds the entire chain of sub-periods that govern major and minor life events.

How the Four-Level Cascade Works

Vimshottari Dasha is anchored to the Moon's longitude at birth. The Nakshatra occupied by the Moon decides which Mahadasha you are running at the moment you take your first breath, and the unfinished portion of that Nakshatra determines the balance of the first Mahadasha. From this anchor, the system unfolds in a fixed sequence: Ketu, Venus, Sun, Moon, Mars, Rahu, Jupiter, Saturn, Mercury — repeating in cycles of 120 years.

Each Mahadasha is divided into nine Antardashas in the same planetary order, each Antardasha into nine Pratyantar Dashas, and each Pratyantar into nine Sookshma Dashas. The duration of every sub-level is proportional to the parent period. A Saturn Mahadasha of 19 years contains a Saturn-Saturn Antardasha of about 3 years and 17 days, which itself contains a Saturn-Saturn-Saturn Pratyantar of roughly 119 days.

Reading the Levels Together

The Mahadasha sets the broad theme of a chapter of life, the Antardasha colors a multi-month sub-theme inside it, the Pratyantar narrows results to specific weeks, and the Sookshma points to the texture of individual days. A favorable event usually requires agreement across at least three levels — for example a benefic Mahadasha lord who is also strong in the Antardasha and supported by transit during the Pratyantar.

When to Use the All-Levels View

Use this calculator when you need the complete Vimshottari ladder for serious chart reading: dating past events, matching predictions to specific months, planning major decisions during sub-periods of friendly planets, or studying the relationship between a Mahadasha lord and its Antardasha and Pratyantar lords. The cascading view is essential for any Parashari analysis that goes beyond the headline Mahadasha.
