Vedic Yogas Calculator

The Vedic Yogas Calculator scans your birth chart for the special planetary combinations described in classical texts such as Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, Phaladeepika, Saravali, and Jataka Parijata. From the Pancha Mahapurusha yogas formed by the five tara grahas in kendras to Raja yogas, Dhana yogas, Gajakesari, and Kemadruma, this tool reports which combinations exist in your chart and explains the results they tend to produce when active.

What Are Vedic Yogas

A yoga in Vedic astrology is a specific configuration of planets, signs, and houses that produces a defined outcome. Some yogas arise from a single planet placed in a particular dignity, while others require relationships between two or more grahas. The classical literature catalogues several hundred yogas; modern parashari practice generally focuses on the few dozen that occur frequently and have well-tested results. Yogas only deliver fully when the participating planets are strong in Shadbala and are not destroyed by combust, debilitated, or badly aspected positions.

Pancha Mahapurusha Yogas

Pancha Mahapurusha or the five great person yogas form when Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, or Saturn occupies its own sign or exaltation sign in a kendra from the lagna or the Moon. Each yoga gives the native qualities reflected by that planet. Mars produces Ruchaka yoga, Mercury produces Bhadra, Jupiter produces Hamsa, Venus produces Malavya, and Saturn produces Sasa. These yogas are widely cited as markers of leadership, intelligence, wisdom, prosperity, and endurance respectively.

Raja, Dhana, and Other Major Yogas

Raja yogas form when a kendra lord and a trikona lord conjoin, exchange signs, or aspect each other. They confer status, recognition, and power within the social or professional sphere. Dhana yogas involve the lords of the second and eleventh houses, often with Jupiter or Venus, and indicate accumulation of wealth. Gajakesari yoga is formed when Jupiter is in a kendra from the Moon and gives fame, intelligence, and respect. Kemadruma yoga is a negative configuration where the Moon has no planets in the second or twelfth from itself and no kendra support, often indicating effort and isolation. Other commonly examined combinations include Neecha Bhanga Raja yoga, Vipareeta Raja yoga, Adhi yoga, and Chandra Mangala yoga.
