What is Vedha?
Vedha (Sanskrit: "piercing" or "affliction") is a pass/fail compatibility rule that identifies pairs of nakshatras that are mutually harmful to each other when found in a couple's charts. When both partners' Moon nakshatras form a Vedha pair, it is believed to cause obstruction, suffering, or harm in the marriage — as if one star "pierces" the other.

How to Check
- Find the male's Moon nakshatra and the female's Moon nakshatra.
- Look up the male's nakshatra in the table above and find its Vedha pair.
- If the female's nakshatra matches the Vedha pair → Vedha Dosha
- If no match → No Vedha
The check is bidirectional — it does not matter which partner's nakshatra you start from; if they form a pair, Vedha exists.
Worked Examples
Hasta's Vedha pair is Shatabhisha (24). Female is in Rohini (4) — no match.
Significance
Vedha is considered a blocking condition in Vedic matching. The pairs are derived from ancient nakshatra lore — certain stars were believed to energetically "pierce" or negate each other when brought into close relationship. Unlike scored kutas, Vedha is simply present or absent.
