The Sub Yogini Dasha Calculator breaks each Major Yogini into its eight sub-periods, refining the 36-year Yogini cycle to month-level precision. Where the Major Yogini sets the long-term flavor of a chapter, the sub-period — known as the Antardasha within Yogini Dasha — colors the specific months inside it, identifying when the parent Yogini's energy will most strongly manifest.
How Sub Yogini Periods Are Built
Each Major Yogini is divided into eight sub-periods in the same fixed sequence used at the Mahadasha level: Mangala, Pingala, Dhanya, Bhramari, Bhadrika, Ulka, Siddha, Sankata. The duration of each sub-period is proportional to the Major Yogini that contains it. Because the eight Yoginis carry weights of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 years totalling 36, the sub-period lengths follow the same 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 ratio scaled to the parent.
For instance, the 6-year Ulka Mahadasha contains a Mangala sub-period of about 2 months, a Dhanya sub-period of around 6 months and an Ulka-Ulka sub-period of roughly 12 months. The 8-year Sankata Mahadasha contains the longest sub-periods, while the 1-year Mangala Mahadasha has the shortest.
Combining Major and Sub Lords
Predictions in Yogini Dasha are read by blending the natures of the Major and Sub lords. A Siddha-Dhanya period (Venus inside Jupiter) is one of the most benefic combinations, often associated with marriage, gains and recognition. A Sankata-Ulka period (Rahu inside Saturn) is among the heaviest, indicating obstacles, loss or chronic stress. Mixed combinations require careful weighing of each lord's strength, dignity and house lordship in the natal chart.
What the Calculator Shows
- Start and end dates of every sub-period inside each Major Yogini.
- The lord of each sub-period and its benefic or malefic classification.
- The currently running Major-Sub combination based on the chosen reference date.
- A timeline view useful for matching past events to specific sub-period windows.
When to Use Sub Yogini Dasha
Use the sub level when the Major Yogini is too coarse to explain monthly variations in life. Sub Yogini is particularly helpful for confirming the timing of marriages, job changes, relocations and health episodes already suggested by Vimshottari. It also serves as a sanity check before descending to the still finer Sub-Sub level used in advanced Yogini predictive practice.
