Civil Services Aspirant, 2002

0° Gemini

The youngest chart in this database — a graduate born near Hyderabad in 2002, preparing for the Civil Services examination. The birth time is better recorded than most: the native says every family member gives the same time and that it was written down on the day. Much of the call is spent checking the chart against childhood, a parent's career and family finances before the career question is answered.

Three planets in the rising sign and a Magha Moon in the fourth, read against a Civil Services attempt that had not yet been made.

Caution — unsourced

How this chart was sourced. The native consented on the recording to the consultation being published, and is not named here — the birthplace is withheld for the same reason. Date and time were transcribed from the audio, then accepted only where the computed chart reproduces the ascendant and birth star the astrologer states aloud. That check confirms the chart is the one being read; it does not confirm the exact minute, which is why the Rodden rating is C. The call is filed on the channel as UH6UKJW, which is also the first part of this page's address.

The Rasi chart is the birth chart itself. The Navamsa is its ninth division — each sign split into nine parts of 3°20′ — read alongside it for the strength a planet really carries, and for marriage. Both squares are drawn by the same engine as RVA Softwares, so the cusps in orange are the Placidus house cusps the software shows; the House column in the table below counts whole signs from the ascendant, which is what the video reading uses.

Houses here are whole sign — the whole rising sign is the first house, the next sign the second, and so on. That is what the video reading uses. RVA's own janam kundali chart uses Placidus cusps instead, so a planet early or late in a sign can show a different house number there.

The reading

Whole-sign houses, as used in the video

Three planets in the rising sign

The chart rises in Taurus at 14°38', and Taurus itself carries Mercury at 9°28', Saturn at 25°25' (combust) and retrograde Rahu at 23°41'. Three planets in the first house, with Ketu opposite in the seventh, is a heavily loaded ascendant.

The reading picks this up early. Mercury in the first gives the questioning, argumentative turn the astrologer raises at 2:43; Saturn gives the seriousness and the capacity to sit with dry material for years, which is what the examination actually demands; Rahu supplies the ambition and, in the same breath, the ego discussed at 3:23. The nodal axis running through the first and seventh is also what prompts the Kalasarpa discussion at 3:01 — worth noting that in this figure the remaining planets do not all fall on one side of the axis, so the classical condition is not strictly met.

A Magha Moon in the fourth

The Moon is in Leo at 3°32', in Magha, in the fourth house. Magha is the nakshatra of the throne and of inherited authority, ruled by Ketu and falling in the sign of the Sun — as direct an association with office and public position as the twenty-seven stars provide, which is the natural place for a reading about government service to begin.

The fourth house is formal education and the home, and a Moon there ties the native's state of mind closely to both. That is the ground for two threads the call keeps returning to: the education difficulties around 2019 at 7:29, and the family disturbances at 8:36. Sun, Mars and Jupiter all sit together in Gemini in the second house, which is where the discussion of family finances and the house construction at 5:38 comes from.

Venus, the ascendant lord, running its own twenty years

Venus rules Taurus, so the ascendant lord of this chart is also the lord of the mahadasha in force: Venus runs from August 2007 to August 2027. The native has been inside their own ascendant lord's period since the age of five, and it expires about a year after the call.

Venus itself is in Cancer at 7°25' in the third house. An ascendant-lord period is generally read as a time when the person's own agency counts for most, which suits a self-directed examination attempt. The Sun mahadasha that follows in August 2027 is the more interesting horizon for a Civil Services question — the Sun is the natural significator of government and authority, and it disposits the Magha Moon. The call ends at 9:17 on a prediction mismatch, which is left in the record rather than edited out.
