Moon Biorhythm (Pancha Pakshi) Calculator

The Moon Biorhythm Calculator works on the principles of Pancha Pakshi Shastra, the ancient Tamil and Siddha tradition that assigns one of five sacred birds to every native based on the moon's nakshatra at birth. Each bird passes through five activities (Rule, Eat, Walk, Sleep, Die) during the day and night, and each activity has a duration that varies with the lunar phase. Knowing your bird and its current activity gives a fine-grained guide to the favourable hours in any given day.

The Five Birds and Their Nakshatras

Pancha Pakshi means five birds. The five are Vulture, Owl, Crow, Cock, and Peacock. Each bird is associated with one of the five elements and is allotted a group of nakshatras. The bird that ruled the sky at your birth is determined from your janma nakshatra and the lunar fortnight, with separate rules for shukla paksha (waxing) and krishna paksha (waning). Once your bird is known, the daily and nightly schedule of the five activities is fixed for that lunar fortnight.

The Five Daily Activities

The day from sunrise to sunset is divided into five parts and the night from sunset to sunrise is divided into five parts. Each part is allotted to one of the activities in a fixed order, but the order rotates between birds and between paksha. Rule (Aalum) is the most powerful and is suitable for any important work. Eat (Unnum) is favourable for prosperity and routine activity. Walk (Nadakkum) supports travel and meetings. Sleep (Urangum) is weak for new initiatives. Die (Saagum) is the most adverse and best avoided for any auspicious undertaking.

How the Calculator Works

You provide the date of birth, time, and place. The calculator computes the moon's position to identify the janma nakshatra, then determines the active paksha to map you to one of the five birds. For the chosen target date it calculates the local sunrise and sunset, divides day and night into five segments, and applies the activity rotation rules from classical Pancha Pakshi tables. The result lists the start and end of each activity for the day along with the friend and enemy birds for compatibility checks.

Using the Daily Schedule

Schedule new beginnings, important meetings, journeys, financial transactions, and worship during the Rule activity of your bird, especially when the day's lord is also your friend bird. Avoid critical work during the Die activity. The Eat and Walk segments are good for routine activity and short travel. Sleep should be reserved for rest. When checking compatibility with another person, find their bird and confirm whether it is your friend, neutral, or enemy. Pancha Pakshi is best used together with the Vedic muhurta system for daily timing decisions.

Why Use the Pancha Pakshi Calculator

  • Identifies your birth bird from janma nakshatra and lunar paksha.
  • Lists the day and night activity timings for any chosen date.
  • Highlights Rule and Die periods so important work is timed safely.
  • Names friend and enemy birds for relationship and partnership checks.
  • Complements traditional muhurta and dasha forecasts for daily planning.
