"Mrityu Tithi" = death-tithi. The classification comes from a classical lookup table that pairs each weekday with the tithis that fall on it. The same tithi can be neutral on one weekday, beneficial (siddha) on another, and lethal (mrityu) on a third.
The three states
- Mrityu — the weekday-tithi pairing is in the "death" list. Avoid for any auspicious start. The classical mnemonic: certain tithis on certain weekdays "kill" the muhurta.
- Regular — a neutral pairing. Acceptable for routine work.
- Siddha — the pairing is auspicious / accomplishing. Preferred for major events.
Classical mrityu tithi pairs
The mrityu pairs vary slightly between texts; one common list:
- Sunday + Dwadashi
- Monday + Ekadashi
- Tuesday + Dashami
- Wednesday + Tritiya
- Thursday + Shashthi
- Friday + Ashtami
- Saturday + Navami
How the filter works
Every slot is labelled Mrityu / Regular / Siddha. By default all three are allowed. For any auspicious start (marriage, housewarming, vehicle purchase, business opening), uncheck Mrityu. For high-stakes events, demand only Siddha.
Mrityu Tithi is a strong filter — combined with Mrityu Panchaka and Vyatipata Yoga, it knocks out the worst days. Many practitioners check just these three before doing anything else.
